Designing a service for veterans, informed by veterans

Each year thousands of Australian’s transition from the Australian Defence Force back to civilian life. Often with years of non-traditional employment in can be a challenge for veterans to find rewarding work.

DVA asked Pragma to help design a new service for the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Program. The Program aims to create a simple and effective way to connect employers with job-seeking veterans.

A service delivery model that caters for a range of needs

Pragma undertook significant user research and testing of the different concepts to refine and deliver a detailed service design.

We used the service design to guide us when implementing digital and non-digital pathways for this program. Our team took in to account existing veteran employment programs and rehabilitation services and ensured their were strong linkages and seamless pathways for veterans that might access all these different services at different times.

By July 2020 the Support for Employment Initiative will be delivering tangible employment assistance to veterans. It will make them more employable and help them to enter and thrive in the civilian workforce.
