Who you are

You’re a skilled UX/UI, interaction or product designer, experienced in designing user-focused, accessible digital products.

You use human-centred design principles to design everything from user journeys, to wireframes, to high-fidelity prototypes, to iterations on live services.

You are at home using a range of prototyping tools (we use Sketch, Figma, and occasionally XD, but welcome all sorts.)

You enjoy working in a lean, agile, collaborative and client focused environment. You love being part of all stages of the design process from project inception to delivery.

Your design decisions are driven by user needs. You use data and user research to define success and learn lessons. It’s not about your instincts but what our users need.

You can manage stakeholders and clients, communicating effectively and balancing user needs with business priorities.

You’re self-sufficient and able to take a task and run with it.

You’re excited to work with experts in adjacent fields, such as user research and service design.

Who we are

We’re a dynamic ‘consultagency’ based in Canberra, helping public and private sector organisations transform their digital services. We work with high profile clients, large and small, and we love working on digital services that improve peoples’ lives. Our clients love working with us, and we love what we do.

We are user-centred design experts, but we come from a range of fields. Our team includes experienced and skilled user researchers, service designers, content designers, content strategists, technical leads, delivery managers and business architects.

Our approach is in our name – being pragmatic means dealing with things sensibly and realistically. Pragmatism means responding to the world as it is, not theoretically. We help our clients design services that lead to real outcomes.

We work from home some of the time, and from the office some of the time. We run regular design crits and team planning sessions, as well as Pragma-sponsored team lunches and activities. We enjoy spending time together!

  • Part-time and flexible work arrangements are available.
  • If you are excited by this opportunity, but don’t quite fit the description above, we’d still love to hear from you.
  • Due to our government clients sensitivities, Australian Citizenship is required.
