Teaming up with the Covert and Technical Operations (CTO) branch of the Australian Federal Police (AFP), we embarked on a game-changing journey to transform their data management.
Our goal? To supercharge how CTO collects, manages and leverages data, helping them hit their operational targets and deliver impactful results.
We kicked things off with a deep dive into CTO’s data processes. Through research, document reviews, interviews and workshops, we uncovered the heart of their data practices. Engaging with both the operational teams and leadership, we crafted a strategy that resonated across the entire organisation.
Our Data Management Maturity Assessment (DMMA) set the stage, establishing a benchmark for CTO’s data capabilities and highlighting key areas for growth. This informed our transformation plan, which included a solid data strategy, a structured management framework and a detailed data inventory – all tailored to support CTO’s evolving needs.
By collaborating closely with AFP teams, we made sure our recommendations tackled CTO’s unique challenges head-on.
Key activities:
- Data management maturity assessment: We evaluated current data capabilities to set a benchmark and pinpoint improvement opportunities.
- In-depth discovery: We conducted desktop research, document reviews, interviews and workshops to fully understand CTO’s data landscape.
- Data architecture and strategy: We developed a roadmap to guide data processes, align teams and set goals, mapping data flows across systems to ensure clarity and seamless integration.
- Data inventory: We made an inventory for stakeholders to track datasets, relationships, risks and consolidation pathways.
